September!

I love the fall! It is one of my most favorite seasons! I really enjoy smelling the fresh crispness in the air and seeing all the beautiful earth tone colors that nature provides. This year I have two more reasons to look forward to the fall! Two inspiring new books will be arriving this September. One is called "French Finesse...with a Nordic Twist" by Jeanne d'Arc Living.

This newest book by Jeanne d'Arc Living is the long-awaited continuation in the series on interior design: "French Atmospheres"and the garden book: "French Sensations".

This book will focus on the details, taking a closer look at what it takes to add finesse and sophistication in your decorating. Featuring new and exciting homes with an eye for the concepts and details and focus on decorating with both French and Nordic treasures.

400+ beautiful photographs all shot in natural daylight! Measures 24x32 cm - 192 pages (Hardcover).

The release date is early Sept/2013.

The other book is "Vintage by Nina...among Vintage & Friends".

This is the latest book by Nina Hartman. In this book Nina is once again sharing her epic collection of treasures and awe-inspiring vignettes and styling, but also includes the work and collections of a group of her friends who like her share the love of vintage and antiques.

This book is larger than her last book (12 1/4" x 9 1/4") 200 hundred pages featuring over 300 photographs of awe-inspiring vignettes of vintage and antique treasures.

Release date is late September/2013.

"Paris Subway Sign" Class.......

One of the most popular trends in decorating today are "Subway Signs".  These wonderful wall art signs are designed after black and white vintage subway and European transportation signs. They can show an area's major attractions such as names of cities, streets and popular landmarks or they can feature inspirational words and sayings on them.

We thought it would be fun to offer a class on how to make your own "Subway Sign" based on the ever iconic city "Paris".  Our guest instructor for this class is Nicole of "Nicole Scott Designs"  http://scottdesigns.ca/.  You will have the option of choosing either black on white or white on black and between two different fonts!

Hello Bonjour....

Well this is my first attempt at blogging! It's been quite a year and a half for me. I retired from the Federal Government after 34 years and in October 2006, I started a new retail store called "French Vanilla Home and Garden". In July 2007 I launched my store's e-commerce website and now this....blogging! Who would have thought! Has it been challenging?....a bit, stressful?.... some days, rewarding?....most definitely! I love owning my own retail store, filling it with things I love and helping my customers find that perfect item or gift! I am enjoying this new phase of my life and look forward to learning new things, having new adventures and making new friends along the way!
